I've seen so many great reading challenges on various blogs! I'll list them here. Who knows if I'll succeed in completing them, but it'll be fun trying!
J. Kaye's Book Blog is hosting the 2010 Support Your Library Challenge. Since I get almost all the books I read from the library, that one should be easy! If I make it to 100 books, then that means I'll also finish the 100+ Challenge, also hosted by J. Kaye. This challenge is The One. I really want to make it to 100 books!
The two books that I am reading right now (Stephen R. Lawhead's Taliesin and In the Hall of the Dragon King- reviews coming soon) are both fantasy and the first in a series- which means I can enter the corresponding challenges over at Royal Reviews. I think for both of those challenges I'll shoot for curious which requires reading 3 books for each category. I loved fantasy when I was a teenager. Let's see if I still do!Historical Fiction is one of my favorite genres. The challenge I am most definitely looking forward to this year is the Historical Fiction Reading Challenge that is being hosted over at Royal Reviews. While I'd love to hit the "Obsessed" level of 20 books, I think more realistically I can handle being "Addicted" at 12. I am going to start with The King's Grace by Anne Easter Smith.
Finally, I introduce the Decades 2010 Reading Challenge. In this challenge, readers choose at least 10 books published in 10 consecutive decades. I'll probably read books published in the 1800s. One can never get enough of 19th century classics. I've always wanted to read a gothic novel, such as those mentioned in Jane Austen's Northanger Abbey. Sir Walter Scott is an author I've been meaning to read for years now. I'll have to finally read him this year.
I've seen so many other challenges that look great- it's hard not to enter them all. I have listed all the challenges I've come across on my sidebar. If anyone knows of any others, I'll be happy if you'll point me in their direction. Happy Reading in 2010!
